Mr. Frank Devall, Jr. - PRINCIPAL OF MARTIN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Welcome to Edward R.
Martin Middle School, home to over 900 sixth, seventh,
and eighth graders in East Providence, Rhode Island. MMS
provides an individualized learning environment through a
House system. The four Houses; Freedom, Hope, Courage, and
Liberty have teams of students and teachers, a House Leader,
a Guidance Counselor and a secretary.
Students find support, guidance and identity within each
House. Supporting the teams are teachers from unified arts
(home economics, art, shop), band and chorus, and physical
education/health. Additionally librarians, foreign language
teachers, computer teachers, resource, special education,
and ESL teachers round out a well-balanced middle school
program.
In addition to our academic program, Martin Middle School
offers extra-curricular activities which provide students an
opportunity to develop skills and confidence in sports,
drama, music, and student government. Groups such as the
school newspaper, the Student Council, and many other clubs have all contributed to create a
student-centered school.
Throughout the years, Martin Middle School has won many
academic, artistic, music, and athletic awards making Martin
one of the most successful middle schools in Rhode Island.
On behalf of
the administration, faculty and staff, I invite school
community members to become active participants in the
education of the students of MMS. The success of MMS depends
on our working together. With our efforts focused on this
goal, the students of Martin Middle School will be provided
the opportunity to reach their potential - and with
confidence and conviction, face the challenges of this
changing world! |
